What is Motorola TEXT? |

The Motorola TEXT application copies text messages from your phone and stores them on the Motorola TEXT server. The stored messages can then be cleared off of your phone and reviewed on this website. During your review of the stored messages you can create a response to a message or forward a message and it will be sent the next time you run Motorola TEXT. The website can also be used to initiate new text messages that can be sent via Motorola TEXT. |

Why are phones on the T-Mobile Network not supported? |

Presently the Motorola TEXT application has passed all Motorola TEXT certification testing. T-Mobile has a different certification process and must accept the Motorola TEXT application. At this time T-Mobile has not accepted the Motorola TEXT application into its certification. |

Do I need a data plan from my carrier to run Motorola TEXT? |

Yes, you will need a minimum data plan from your operator. A typical archival of 10 messages will require approximately 3K of data. Remember that after the first backup, the application sends new messages only, so the data used is much less. |

Each time I try to run Motorola TEXT, I am served a network unavailable screen. |

If you have run Motorola TEXT in the past, the problem may be that your carrier is having temporary difficulties. In that case, try again later. If you have never run Motorola TEXT successfully, contact Customer Support for assistance in troubleshooting. |

When I try and download Motorola TEXT to my phone I receive the following error: 'Root Certificate Missing Application not installed'. |

This is caused by the date on the phone being wrong. Correct the date by selecting the 'Settings' menu on your phone. From this menu select 'Initial Setup' and then from this menu select 'Time and date'. Highlight the date and change it. |

Is the data transmission encrypted between Motorola TEXT and my phone? |

 |
Yes. Protection takes two forms: encryption of data between the cellular phone to and from the Motorola TEXT server, and protection of the Tarsin (Europe) Limited server from intrusion. For an extra amount of security, each encrypted message transaction between the user and Motorola TEXT uses its own data encryption key, and the keys are never transmitted over the air. |

How long do you retain my data? |
 |

Motorola TEXT keeps your stored SMS messages live and available on-line as long as your account is current and you periodically use the account. If you do not use the service for about twelve months, Motorola TEXT archives the data (we save it in computer storage, but in a way that´s not immediately available) and then we mark your account as "inactive." When you reactivate your account, Motorola TEXT makes your data available again. |

I don't have Motorola TEXT yet. Can I put the Motorola TEXT application on my phone? |

Motorola TEXT is included on some new models of phones. However, if Motorola TEXT did not come with your phone, you can add it easily. (Your phone must appear in the list of supported models.) You can go to http://www.motorolatext.com within the browser on your phone to download the Motorola TEXT application. |

Does Motorola TEXT work with both Macintosh and Windows? |

The Motorola TEXT website works with Mac, Windows, Linux, UNIX, or any other operating system that provides a modern web browser. We suggest that you work with the most current web browser you can. Motorola TEXT does not currently work with the browsers found on PDAs and phones. |

How do I discontinue the Motorola TEXT service? |

Option 1: Go to your Motorola TEXT Profile at Motorola TEXT Profile. Select the "Unsubscribe from Motorola TEXT" checkbox on the page and then select the 'Submit' link. To access your profile page you must login with your phone number and PIN Code. If you cannot remember your PIN Code you may contact support@tarsin.com with a request to cancel your subscription.
Option 2: Start the Motorola TEXT application on your phone. When the main splash screen is displayed, select the 'Menu' button. From this menu select 'Unsubscribe' and follow the onscreen instructions.
Option 3: When you receive any text message regarding Motorola TEXT, reply to the message with any one of the following words:"Stop", "Quit", "End", "Cancel", or "Unsubscribe".

How can I tell if my RAZR V3 is supported by Motorola TEXT? |

The original RAZR V3 does not support Motorola TEXT. Several of the new versions do. The V3i and V3r do support Motorola TEXT. The V3r is very close physically to the V3 and it can be hard to determine the difference. You can use this procedure to check the S/W version of the phone which will tell you if your phone supports Motorola TEXT.

The same text message appeared twice in my Inbox on your website. |

This can happen if you have unopened SMS messages on your phone that the Motorola TEXT application synched to our server, and then you move your SIM card into a different phone, use existing account, and sync again. The way to avoid it is to read all of your SMS messages before swapping phones. Also, some Motorola Z6 models can create duplicates each time the Motorola TEXT application is shut down and restarted. This problem has been fixed, but if you hit it, the solution is to select Clear Inbox and Outbox after backing up messages with the Motorola TEXT application. |

Why is Motorola TEXT not clearing all messages out of my Inbox after I select the Inbox checkbox on the 'Clear Messages' screen? |

- Inbox messages that are stored to SIM cannot be cleared by the Motorola TEXT application.
- Motorola TEXT does not clear multimedia messages (MMS) since it does not currently store them on its server.
- Motorola TEXT does not clear multi-part messages that are too long for it to currently store on its server.
Solution: Manually delete those messages from your phone if you do not wish to keep them.

How do I select or move between fields on the phone when there are no soft key options to do so? |

 |
Use the center of the direction selection wheel on your phone's keypad. If you find that just using the up or down buttons on the keypad does not move your cursor, press the center key first to enter your data, and then up or down to move to the next field. On some phone models, you need to press the center of the direction pad to enter your PIN Code from the edit screen onto the form. |

When I launch Motorola TEXT, I receive a message that the application has expired. |

For some Motorola phones, the signed certificate within the application has expired. You can get up and running again by downloading a new application to update your old one. Please visit the website at http://www.motorolatext.com/getit.htm for instructions on two different ways to download the application. Once the application is downloaded, you will be prompted to update the existing software on your handset. Please select the affirmative option to continue whenever prompted. Once the most recent application has been installed, you should be able to run it successfully. |

Be sure to check the date on your phone to make sure that it is current. Motorola TEXT works off a timestamp that your phone attaches to your messages. If the date on your phone is two months in the past, you will find your messages on the website two months in the past. |

I'm having trouble inputting a numeric PIN Code. |

The Motorola VA76r Tundra has a known issue with earlier software versions in which the password field defaults to letters. If you attempt to input numbers in the abc mode, you will be blocked. You need to switch into numeric or 123 mode using the # key on the phone's keypad in order to be able to input a numeric PIN Code containing 4-15 digits. |

I forgot my PIN Code and can't log in to the website. |

Option 1: Reset PIN Code through the Website On the website just below the login boxes is a link that reads, 'Forgot your PIN Code?' Click that link, enter your phone number and email address, and we will send an email to that address containing a Support Code. You must use the same email address that you created in your Profile on the website. Option 2: Reset PIN Code through Customer Support If you've never logged in to the website and you forgot your PIN Code, contact Customer Support. Whether going through the website or Customer Support, follow these steps:- Check your email for a message sent from Motorola TEXT.
- Select the Motorola TEXT application on your phone and press START.
- The phone will prompt you to enter a Support Code and your new PIN Code. Please enter the Support Code that was provided by Motorola TEXT Customer Support via email or phone. Your new PIN Code can be 4-15 digits.
After following these steps, you will have successfully reset your PIN Code. Option 3: Reset PIN Code through your Phone. If you have a new phone with a Motorola TEXT application that has never been run and an existing account you created on an old phone, you can follow these steps.
- Launch the Motorola TEXT application.
- When prompted to input PIN Code, put in anything between 5 and 15 digits. You will be informed that the PIN Code is incorrect.
- When asked if you want to enter a new PIN Code, say yes.
- Input the new PIN Code twice to verify it, and the PIN Code will be reset to the new one that you entered.
Now you can log in to the website. |
